India's TEC has updated its MTCTE certification requirements, exempting certain LAN switch test parameters.

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre of India (TEC) recently issued supplementary regulations that adjusted the Equipment Requirements (ER) under the Mandatory Telecommunication Equipment Certification (MTCTE) program, providing temporary exemptions for some testing items.

Exemption Provisions and Conditions This update supplements the official letters and their appendices issued by TEC on January 29, 2025 and October 16, 2025. Under the new regulations, when submitting MTCTE certification for LAN switches, the submission of test reports for specific test parameters is exempt.

The exemption conditions clearly stipulate that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) must submit a formal declaration through the MTCTE portal by April 30, 2026, explaining that their equipment for which certification is sought does not support the listed exemption parameters in order to qualify for this exemption. This temporary exemption will remain in effect until April 30, 2026, or until further notice from the TEC.

This adjustment aims to optimize the certification process, reduce the compliance burden on companies, and ensure that the core technical requirements of the equipment are met. Relevant equipment manufacturers should closely monitor the exemption period, submit the required declarations in a timely manner, and plan their product certification arrangements accordingly.
